the tribes of North America, history assignment help

I believe the tribes of North America remained hunter gathers due to the separation that the vast forest, harsh mountain ranges, and the amount of land that North America Covers.  The Inuit’s who lived in the harshest area of the North American continent that was subject to extreme cold weather which limited the ability to farm land.  The Inuit’s survival depended primarily on the hunting mammals on land, and fishing.  The Inuit’s also hunted walruses, and whales from the ocean using boats, and harpoons.  One whale could sustain a hamlet for an entire winter in addition to providing building materials for living structures, weapons for hunting, and clothing for the tribe’s people.

The tribes in Mesoamerica were able to develop sophisticated civilizations due to the favorable weather conditions that allowed the people to farm enough crops to store surpluses.  The surplus food allowed towns and cities to support more people. The tribes Mesoamerica were also able to domesticate some animals, and develop irrigation technologies that increased the tribe’s abilities to farm the land. The increased populations allowed for artisans, and tradespeople to trade goods & services for food stores.  In addition, large structures such as pyramids, monumental plazas, and terraces in central locations within their settlements that could be used for public gatherings, and religious ceremonies.
