Sociology question on LGBT issues

I agree that we have seen a lot of transitions in the past few years, particularly with regard to same-sex marriage and LGBT issues. I think that public opinion has changed on these issues — at least for a significant segment of the population. I’m sure that some people who have been involved in this process would label themselves social libertarians. Others have also been involved.

I also get your concern about the age at which people can get married. I agree that younger people may not understand the significance or importance of marriage. Of course, the trouble is, if the law recognizes that people at the age of 18 are able to enter into basic contracts (as well as be held legally responsible for many other types of actions), why would we argue that they can’t enter into a marriage contract?
