A rooster has a theory that when he crows in the morning, he causes the sun to come up. So one morning he performs an experiment to test his theory; he gets up and “confirms” his theory by crowing and lo’ and behold, the sun comes up!
Given what you learned about in this week’s critical thinking readings, how could you “skeptically” evaluate the rooster’s claim?
What alternative experiment should the rooster conduct, in order to determine if his theory is true or NOT (hint: think about avoiding the confirmation bias)?
