Need help with a History essay assignment about homosexuality

Hello, I need help with completing my history essay assignment. It is an open-ended question, and it must be 1500 words. There must be 3 sources cited, using the format of Chicago Manual of Style.

My opinion is that 4th graders should learn that Harvey Milk was openly homosexual, and that he helped pave the way for legal changes in regards to homosexuality.
