1.  In some instances, genres overlap each other, as in Zombieland or Shaun of the Dead. In your opinion, do you think these movies fall into an existing genre, such as horror or comedy? If so, which one do they fall into? Why did you select this genre? If not, how would you define the genre? What would you call it?

2.  Many science fiction films are set in a dystopian future (meaning a future that is frightening and oppressive). What types of stories and action are typical of these films? What would you do to break the mold in this type of film?

3.  Horror films have a long history in Hollywood beginning with Dracula and Frankenstein, whose source materials came from original published novels. Dracula can be thought of as a folktale and Frankenstein was, in part, inspired by science experiments known to the author Mary Shelley. What folktales and current scientific thought should serve as inspiration to modern filmmakers?
