help with persepolies paper

General Information

•You are being askedto write a reading response paper onThe Complete Persepolisby Marjane Satrapi.

•Your paper is worth 50 points. Note that this is a required assignment.

•This paper should be typed and approximately 5-7 double-spaced pages in length. You should pay

careful attention to the mechanics, clarity, and logic of your writing and to the flow and organization of

your paper, including both introductory and concluding comments.

Content

How you organize your Persepolis paper is up to you, but it should include the following:

•Your overall evaluation of the book, including a description of its strengths and weaknesses.

•A description of the THREE ideas or events in the book that you found most interesting or important (it is best to paraphrase here, but be sure to use quotation marks if you are including exact wording from the book).

Specify the page numbers in the Persepolis book where each of the important ideas/events you include in your paper can be found.

•A description of how each of these three ideas/events can be connected to material outside of the Persepolis

book (external connections). Make one distinct external connection per interesting point that

you describe from the Persepolis book. Be specific in these connections and address directly how they relate to material in the Persepolis book. Follow these rules in making your external connections:

o At least two of your external connections must be to specific theories, concepts, or research findings

presented in the Matsumoto and Juang textbook or the Blackboard journal articles. Note, however,

that all three of your external connections may be to material from the textbook or Blackboard articles.

Be sure to specify the page numbers in the Matsumoto and Juang text/ Blackboard articles

where each of the concepts for your external connections can be found.

o One of your external connections may be to specific material that is external to this course (i.e.,

material from another course, a current news event or a real-world event, an article or book you have

read, or a film you have seen, etc.).

Note that your external connections in this category may NOT be to personal experiences.

•Your reflection on the theme of cultural universals (etics) versus cultural specifics (emics) that has run

throughout this course. Reflect upon the childhood development of the author, and describe at least two

things in her development that are universal (etic) to children growing up anywhere (regardless of their

culture) and at least two things in her development that are specific to her culture (emic).

Be sure to use

specific information and examples from Satrapi’s book (with corresponding page numbers) to

support your points in this part of your paper.
