Civil War and the United States, history homework help

In 4-5 sentences, respond to the following discussion:

Many factors played out the results of the war and thus various effects took place after the end of the Civil War. This included the nation again being united with southern states being forbidden from seceding (Jackson, B., 2016). National government was deemed higher than state governments meaning the federal government was now greater than the state and industrialism began (Jackson, B., 2016). One of the biggest effects on the United States was the adoption of the 13th amendment in 1865 (McPherson, J. & Hogue, J., 2009). Three notable categories of reconstruction then went underway beginning with presidential reconstruction. Under Johnson’s presidency, southern states regained some freedom that allowed them the opportunity to rebuild themselves from how they were divided before—into military districts that were organized by the North (History, 2009). During time “black codes” were designed but Congress eventually passed a set of Civil Rights Bills which were passed regardless of Johnson’s veto on the bill. Radical reconstruction was seen with congress ratifying the 14th amendment and adopting the 15th amendment. For a time, Blacks had won elections in the south but the formation of the Ku Klux Klan formed which rejected radical reconstruction. Thus, whites took over the southern government again with the Compromise of 1876 and thus comes the third stage of reconstruction—the end of this era (History, 2009).
