Bereavement Overload and Disenfranchised Grief, assignment help

Two theories you will learn about, which I want to highlight:

Bereavement Overload – this is when a person experiences numerous losses, and has not yet recovered from one before being confronted with another…this can be additional deaths, or losses secondary to the original death.

Disenfranchised Grief – this is a grief or loss that is not publicly supported or condoned. So someone who lives on the fringes of society, or someone where an element of either the person, or the death, is socially taboo..

Your tasks:

  1. Think about the two (or three) webinars. What have you learned about grief theory (on an introductory level) and how do all the variables of culture, socialization, religion/spirituality, life span and family systems impact the grief trajectory and to grief work?
  2. What seems to you to be most important, and why?
  3. What are some of the special considerations for bereavement overload and the elderly?
