2. Discuss how the institution of slavery developed in the colonies (1605 through 1780) and

how it was adopted into the independent United States (1781 through 1800). Include

explanations on the political and economic influences of slavery on the American society, as

well as the changing attitudes and actions of the slaves themselves.
